3.A. Filters and Selections
Views: Filters and Selections
The selection of the items that will intervene in the reports is fully done in the left column.
Selection of dimensions in rows and columns
For the selection of dimensions we use a drag & drop system. We will click on the desired dimension and drag it into the rows or columns box , as we wish.
We are in a multidimensional analysis, therefore we may drag more than one dimension into the rows or columns.
Once we have a column and a row, the report will automatically be generated in the right side of the screen.
Items of the selected dimensions shown
We will have to select the items to be displayed from the dimensions we have placed in rows and columns by clicking on their name. In this type of filter the data that we have not selected will not be displayed but is used for the analysis.
Filters
Filters can be applied to any dimension by clicking on its name, whether or not selected in rows and columns, because as we just said, will affect the data. Then select through the hierarchy of the dimension the only item you want to see.
When we want to filter, we will select the item we are going to use, clicking on it, and then clicking on Update Filter.
For example, we can filter by date without the time dimension is displayed in rows or columns, since the data that will appear in the report will belong to the only date we have selected in the filter. The data will filter will not be included in the analysis.
Dimension Options
When clicking on the name of any dimension we will access a panel that will allow us to set multiple options. On the general tab we can change the hierarchy that we want to see (of all which we have defined in that dimension).
In the filters tab we can select the filter we want, first selecting it and then pressing the refresh filter button. On the rows and columns tab we can select which particular item we want to see in the report. In the sets and calculated members tab we can create, delete and modify sets / predefined calculated members, which will be used in the view.
